David Buchas

David Buchas is a visual artist and founder working across photography, film, painting and digital technologies.

He has been in art education since the age of ten and started coding websites at fourteen. Early on he took jobs as a portrait and fashion photographer while building webshops and web applications for clients, before bringing that visual knowledge to video and film as a Director of Photography on set.

Continuing this path, he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Digital Arts in 2020, in the class of Constanze Ruhm, then briefly continued in photography under Martin Guttmann, and later moved into painting in the class of Daniel Richter.

Alongside his artistic practice, he co-founded two technology companies — CrewOne and Vanthral — bringing an image-led, art-trained eye to building products for the web.
